Dr. Chan is a general dentist, clinician, teacher, educator and leader. He is considered by many to be an authority on Neuromuscular Dentistry. His logical and systematic occlusal teachings has been found by many students to bridge the gap between neuromuscular and gnathologics occlusal teachings. He honors his teachers and mentors Dr. Philip Taylor, a follower of Dr. Charles Stuart, a pioneering gnathologist and Drs. Robert Jankelson and James Garry, also pioneering clinicians in the areas of Neuromuscular Dentistry. His training and experience as a dental laboratory technician along with training in the areas of gnathologics, TMD, orthodontics and neuromuscular occlusion has helped him convey a unique clinical message to thousands of dentists, specialists and dental leaders nationally and internationally.

He lectures on Neuromuscular Occlusion and its clinical relevance to comprehensive aesthetic/reconstruction, TMD, and orthodontics, inspiring and motivating dentists to take their practice to the next level. He is able to instill in them the confidence, value, knowledge and skills necessary to go beyond the traditional teachings and techniques taught within the dental profession.

Dr. Chan is noted for his precision in dental occlusion, bite management and bite transfer techniques applying both the gnathological principles with the fundamentals of neuromuscular science. His programs are packed with common sense information and practical clinical application. He is the author of many articles on neuromuscular dentistry and dental occlusion.

As former Director of Neuromuscular Dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute (1999-2006) he established foundational neuromuscular occlusion programs with the help of his mentors Dr. Robert Jankelson and James Garry. In addition to those basic NM occlusion programs he was able to establish the TMD, Scan Interpretation and a continuum of Orthodontic courses which were well received, propelling the neuromuscular concepts to another level of awareness and notoriety within the North America and abroad.

Dr. Chan is Executive Director of the Clinical NM Research Group, holds Mastership status with the International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics , and Founding Member of the Appliance Therapy Group and member of other dental organizations.

THE NEUROMUSCULAR CLINICAL RESEARCH GROUP

INSIGHT – A NM Based Dental Research GROUP

Doctors interested in becoming a Research Associate and desire to be a part of a dynamic interactive forum of esteemed practicioners are now being invited.

Controlled clinical studies will be designed to objectively and subjectively validate patient responses to occlusal therapy within the practicioner's office using the Myotronics K7 instrumentation. Correlation of musculoskeletal occlusal signs and symptoms with CMS and EMG scan data will be submitted to the forums research committe for review and analysis. Results and findings will be reported to the NM research forum by the Executive Review Committee.

Contributing Researchers will have opportunity to write articles and publish these findings based on all the submitted scan data gathered.
